Come experience Korean culture first-hand at My First Kimchi Workshop at the Korean Cultural Center New York (KCCNY)! We invite your family to learn about and participate in kimjang, the traditional Korean process of preparing kimchi for fermentation. In collaboration with celebrated author Yangsook Choi and talented food content creator James Park, KCCNY is excited to share this fun-filled, educational experience with you.

The workshop will begin with an interactive read-aloud of Yansook Choi’s new picture book, Slippery, Spicy, Tingly A Kimchi Mystery.  Through storytelling, songs, and beautiful illustrations, you and your child will learn about the process of kimjang and its significance to Korean communities, as well as the science behind kimchi fermentation.

The hands-on Kimjang experience will be led by James Park, where every participant will have the opportunity to make, pack, and bring home their own kimchi. Don’t miss out on the chance to experience this time-honored tradition that has brought together Korean communities for thousands of years!

Note: The event is free, but registration is required! Register your family using this form. This workshop is for ages 5+.

About Slippery, Spicy, Tingly A Kimchi Mystery
