Join our special workshop for hand fan making!
Artist Seongmin Ahn will teach how to paint Sumukhwa, Korean ink brush painting. Participants will learn brush stroke techniques, composition, and essential skills by creating their very own Korean ink painting on a hand fan.
About Artist
Seongmin Ahn
Seongmin Ahn received B.F.A. and M.F.A. in Asian traditional painting from Seoul National University in Seoul, Korea and then received the second M.F.A from Maryland Institute College of Art. With practical experience and deep understanding of tradition, her work takes Asian traditional painting as starting point and transform it into something experimental with her own interpretation bridging tradition and modern, and East and West.
She is a recipient of a grant from Pollock Krasner Foundation and the first prize from AHL foundation. She has also been reviewed on Washington Post (Washington D.C.), the Philadelphia Inquirer, NY Arts Magazine, the Baltimore Sun (Baltimore), The Plain Dealer (Cleveland) and others. She had exhibited nationally and internationally including solo and group shows.
