Myeong-se Lee, Action

After six-year break from filmmaking, Myeong-se Lee, the director of Nowhere to Hide (1999) returns to make the elegant mise-en-scene. Set in Joseon Dynasty, Duelist presents a new style of historical drama with vibrant colors and visual images. This beautiful film centers on a tomboyish detective, Nam Soon (Ji-won Ha) who ends up being assigned to investigate a case reveling around counterfeit coins. The notorious assassin named Sad Eyes (Dong-won Kang) comes into Nam Soon's life, as they find themselves sharing a mutual respect and attraction for one another, further complicating the story.
