The Korean Cultural Center New York (KCCNY) and the CJ Cultural Foundation co-present a ‘Story Up Shorts in New York.’ This program aims to introduce the works of promising young Korean directors to New York, supporting their future advancement into the mainstream. The event will showcase three outstanding short films that have achieved remarkable results at domestic and international film festivals, followed by a Q&A session with the directors.

The screening begins with ‘Light it Up at 2 am,' winner of the Best Short Film at the 43rd Blue Dragon Award. Next is 'Slaughter,' which won the Special Jury Prize for Korean Competition at the 41st Busan International Short Film Festival. Finally, 'Forest of Echoes,' selected for the 'La Cinef' section at the 77th Festival de Cannes, is shown. Also, Lim Yoo-ri, the director of 'Forest of Echoes,' participates in the Q&A session after the screening.

This screening follows the first 'Story Up Shorts in New York,' held on April 6th. It is a great opportunity to experience the remarkable talents and distinctive works of young Korean directors who dream of making an impact in the cinema world like Bong Joon-Ho and Park Chan-Wook.

  • Your tickets will be released to the standby line 10 minutes before the show, so we recommend you arrive early to secure your seats.

* Standby Entry:

  • There are a limited number of tickets available for the standby line day of, and additional seats may become available on a first-come, first-served basis only.

  • Standby line will form on the 1st floor at 122 E. 32nd Street, NYC.

The film begins with a girl’s narration of a story about the fire that broke out at an institute for girls and a girl named Yurim. Yurim was particularly afraid of fire but was determined to start one. Based on the true story which took place in 1995—forgotten in most people’s memories despite dozens of casualties.
