2013-2014 Spotlight Korea

At the Korean Cultural Service New York/taking into account the racial diversity of the classroom makeup of NYC schools/in order to provide a forum of cultural diversity/and to provide more opportunities for artists of Korean traditional artforms to share their skills/we have started Spotlight Korea, a Korean culture studies program.

The Spolight Korea program by the Korean Cultural Service NY/connects highly qualified artists from traditional Korean art performance groups/and through the "Assembly" and "Residence" programs, the artists are able to showcase the beauty of Korean traditional music and dance.

Started in 2011, when the program was incorporated into 5 NYC schools/the program has expanded to have included 47 elementary, middle, and high schools, reaching a total of 9,818 student participants./ Besides Korean traditional music and dance, the program offers/Taekwondo/calligraphy/and folk art painting classes, as we continue to tailor our program to best fit the needs and the demands of the participating schools and their curricula.

The Korean Cultural Service supports the next generation of leaders of the US./ To increase awareness and interest of Korean culture/and to set a strong foundation for the further expansion of Korean culture,/KCSNY continues to improve upon the Spotlight Korea program to be even more comprehensive and rewarding for the students.
