Chamber Music Concert with musicians of NY Philharmonic & Joyce Yang

Members of the New York Philharmonic including Michelle Kim, violin, Assistant Concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic; Lisa Kim, violin, Associate Principal of the New York Philharmonic; Ru-Pei Yeh, cello, member of the New York Philharmonic; Marvin Moon, viola, member of The Philadelphia Orchestra, and talented pianist Joyce Yang bring the sounds of fall to the New Jersey community for an unforgettable experience.
Programs include Dvořák’s String Quartet No. 12 in F Major , Op. 96, B. 179 'American', Beethoven’s String Quartet Op.18 No. 6 in B flat Major, and Dvořák’s Piano Quintet No.2 in A Major, Op. 82, B 155.
Violinist Michelle Kim has been Assistant Concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic since 2001. She has performed as soloist with orchestras such as the New York Philharmonic, New Jersey Philharmonic, Santa Barbara Chamber Orchestra, etc. An active chamber musician, Ms. Kim has collaborated with Christian Tetzlaff, Pinchas Zukerman, Mstislav Rostropovich, Lang Lang to name just a few. She has also performed at the Santa Fe Chamber Music, La Jolla Chamber Music, Strings in the Mountain, and Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festivals. Michelle Kim attended USC Thornton School of Music and currently teaches at the Mannes College of Music.
Lisa Kim joined the Philharmonic violin section in 1994 and was named Associate Principal, Second Violin Group in 2003. She teaches in South Korea and the United States, and has performed with the Seoul National Philharmonic Orchestra and the Suwon, North Carolina, Winston-Salem, and Durham symphony orchestras. Lisa Kim earned her B.A. and M.A. degrees from The Juilliard School. She has won prizes in the Arts Recognition and Talent Search, Bryan Young Artists String Competition, Winston-Salem Young Talent Search, and Durham Symphony Young Artists Competition. She joined the faculty of the Manhattan School of Music in 1999.
Cellist Ru-Pei Yeh, who joined the New York Philharmonic in September 2006, has served as acting principal cello of the San Diego Symphony and the San Diego Opera. She has also made solo appearances with Hudson Valley Philharmonic, National Taiwan Symphony Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra and is the winner of numerous competitions. She received her B.A. degree from the New England Conservatory and her M.A. degree from The Juilliard School.
Violist Marvin Moon comes to The Philadelphia Orchestra from the Boston Symphony, which he joined at the start of 2005-2006 season. From 2000 to 2003, he was principal viola of the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia. He has participated in such festivals as Music from Angelfire (NM), Summerfest at La Jolla (CA), the Fourth International Chamber Music Encounters in Jerusalem, and the Sarasota Chamber Music Festival. He played with the Temple University Symphony, the New Jersey Symphony, and the Kennett Square Symphony. Mr. Moon attended Temple University and Curtis Institute of Music.
Pianist Joyce Yang came to international attention when she became the Silver Medalist of the 12th Van Cliburn International Competition in 2005. Ms. Yang has performed with world class orchestras including the New York Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra, Chicago Symphony ,BBC Philharmonic to name a few and worked with renowned conductors such as Lorin Maazel, Leonard Slatkin. She recently graduated from Juilliard with special honor, and was also awarded an Avery Fisher Career Grant, one of the most prestigious prizes in classical music.
