New York City's One World Symphony's 2010/2011 season will be celebrating a decade of adventurous programming and enriching the community through inspiring and interactive performances benefit events, and outreach and educational programs. The season opener on September 17 and 19 in New York City will focus on human resilience and the ability to triumph over fear and hopelessness.
Eye of the Storm, composer conductor Sung Jin Hong's world premiere composition inspired by traditional Korean drumming, pulsates with his personal experiences at the Demilitarized Zone. His composition has been described by The New York Times as "a lush Mahlerian sound." Under Hong's direction, One World Symphony has been praised by the press:
“One World Symphony continues to remind us why it's highly likely it will be around for decades to come." – Time Out New York
"New York's Hippest Orchestra" - Courier-Life
The program also includes Strauss’ Four Last Songs, Messiaen’s from Quartet for the End of Time, Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 4 for left hand and more.
