Join us for an exciting evening of drumming, dancing and music at Queens Botanical Garden featuring artists of The Korean Traditional Music and Dance Institute of New York (KTMDI). Founded in 1987, KTMDI is the oldest established Korean performing arts organization in New York City specializing in teaching and performing Korean traditional music and dance. The program includes Poongmul nori ( Farmer's Dance), Puppet Dance ( Children's Dance), Jin-Do Drum Dance (Artistic dance originated in Chollanamdo Province in Korea), Hung Chum ( Noble man and Ladies dance with the floral fan), Sangmo Sul-Janggu ( Hour-glass Drum with stringed hat ), Poong-Go ( Exhilarating Drum Fantacy with Standing Barrel Drum ) and more.
Also, keep in mind that Korean food will be available for purchase and you can enjoy your meal on the Terrace, or as a picnic on the Allée. Listeners may bring blankets to sit on the lawn or a lawn chair to sit on the walkway. Don’t miss this special summertime event!
