SONAGI PROJECT: Barame Soop (Forest, Wind and Rain)
Fri, Oct 19, 8pm, $15/$10 Members & $10 Students

Sonagi Project is a Korean percussion group consisting of five musicians, led by Chang Jea Hyo, which has created modern, original music based on Korean traditional rhythms and chants. Inspired by Korea’s shamanic culture and the vocal art of Pansori, Sonagi’s performances express an exciting emotion, pathos from the deep bottom of the Korean soul and the dynamic energy of Korean traditional music. “Barame Soop” concert is built around janggu (two-headed, hour-glass shaped drums), gongs and pansori (narrative, story-telling folk opera). Sonagi Project will also present collaborative programs with other artists in NYC during their US tour.
