Ensemble 212 opens its 2014-15 season with a bang featuring the New York premiere of "Flash!!" by Composer in Residence Texu Kim and a new orchestral reduction of Mahler's exuberant first symphony.
The concert opens with Texu Kim's "Flash!!" for chamber orchestra, conducted by Associate Principal Conductor Kyunghun Kim. "Flash!!" a collection of 7 short scenes where the composer explores his personal voice using textural and sonic motives which came to him in a short amount of time, literally in a flash!
Artistic Director Yoon Jae Lee will conduct his new orchestral reduction of Mahler Symphony No. 1 in D Major which is part of his ongoing Mahler Chamber Project to create orchestral reductions of Mahler's works for chamber orchestra.
