Ticket: $15 Asia Society members; $17 students/seniors; $20 non-members

Direct from Korea, the first evening of the Korean Music Festival will focus on Sanjo — improvisational instrumental music — featuring four master artists; Lee Tae-baek (Ajaeng and Janggo), Yi Ji-young (Gayageum), Kang Eun-il (Haegeum), and Jeong Dae-seok (Geomungo). These master musicians reflect a passion and deep commitment to the artistry of the past and creating a new hunger for Korean music. Day 2 will feature pansori, a powerful solo form of sung storytelling. This evening features a rare performance by a male maestro of the form, Lim Hyeun-bin, in a compelling mix of sonic drive and poignant narrative. A free pre-performance lecture will precede each performance at 7pm. For more information, please visit Asia Society website at http://asiasociety.org/new-york/events
