“A new Jazz violinist appears like a beacon. “West End” is not only a debut, it is a herald that someone wonderful has arrived in the Jazz world.” -Jazz Times
Yoojin Park is a jazz violinist/composer who hails from Brooklyn, NY, by way of Seoul, South Korea. Playing the violin from the age of four she would later move beyond the conventions of classical music to study jazz performance at the renowned Berklee College of Music in 2006. From there, she moved on to earn a Masters in Jazz Performance at Queens College, NY, while playing the many famed local venues the city has to offer, such as the Rockwood Music Hall and Village Underground. Park has worked with the likes of producer Antonio Hart, bassist Lonnie Plaxico, drummer Montez Coleman, pianist Victor Gould and alto saxophonist Godwin Louis. She was also a part of alto saxophonist and composer David Binney’s String Project at the Jazz Gallery as well as Myron Walden's Group with String at Smalls and Mezzrow Jazz Club.
Tonight's performance features music from Park's debut album "West End", released under Universal Music International in 2013 along with the new original music from her upcoming album. The music is a mix of jazz, blues, R&B and spirited sounds to mellow and soulful vibes.
