The Traditional Art Society of Korea (TASK) presents the 17th World Korean Traditional Music Competition to promote the traditional culture of Korea and to develop succession by supporting the Korean traditional musicians. This competition has been an important event to inspire pride in our culture, and to take part in establishing the identity of Koreans, especially for the younger generations.
Application Division
- Korean Traditional Song (Pansori, Korean Folk Songs (Minyo), etc)
- Korean Traditional Dance
- Korean Traditional Instrumental Music (wind instruments, string instruments, percussion, pungmulnori, samulnori, etc)
Eligibility
- Individuals and groups with the skills and passion for Korean traditional music and dance
- * Applicants who received a Grand Prize (from the Prime Minister or from the Ministry of Culture) in the previous year can apply again, but cannot be awarded a Grand Prizes until after 3 years have passed
Selections
- Applications are pre-screened by the TASK with accordance to selection criteria
- Those who have passed the pre-screening via documents will receive an e-mail notification from TASK
- On the day of the competition, the final recipients will be selected

- Opportunity to perform in the Traditional Art Society of Korea’s event

- Submission of Application: May 15th ~ June 20th, 2017
- Announcement of Winner: June 26th, 2017
- Documents and Materials: Registration form (With picture and ID (for Seniors only) attached application form required)

Participation Fee
- Individual: $100 (per person)
- Two people: $200
- More than 3 people: $300
- More than 5 people: $400
* Order of performances may be adjusted
** Documents submitted will not be returned
