Daegu City Choir, founded in 1981, is a vital part of the city’s cultural life, consequently bringing worldwide attention to Daegu as a vital creative center. The Choir focuses on the interpretation of varied repertoire, classical to contemporary, popularizing Korean works including traditional Korean folk songs as well as songs that reflect the spirit and emotion of Korea. Since Seung-Tae Ahn became the artistic director and conductor of the Choir in 2015, the Daegu City Choir’s reputation has flourished; they have been invited to perform around the world.
Daegu City Choir has grown to be a sophisticated choir under the great interest and affection of Daegu citizens as they have communicated with the audience by holding regular and special performances and even visiting concerts. The Choir contributes to cultivating the emotions of the citizens by showing the essence of chorus music from classical to contemporary, and making great efforts in developing and popularizing diverse Korean repertoires.
