The Korean Performing Arts Center (KPAC)'s dance troupe, Sounds of Korea, will perform at the 85th season of the Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival as part of the Inside/Out performances.
KPAC's artistic emphasis is on the subtle grace and beauty found in Korean traditional dances in which the dancers with powerful, yet delicate, gestures and movements reveal a unique aesthetic beauty.
Sounds of Korea, a dance troupe of KPAC, was founded by Sue Yeon Park in 1993, and has maintained an active schedule over the past 20 years, performing prestigious national museums and festival stages, including Lincoln Center, introducing Korean music and dance to a wide array of audiences of diverse cultural backgrounds.
Jacob’s Pillow is a National Historic Landmark, recipient of the National Medal of Arts, and home to America’s longest-running international dance festival. This season, dance companies from across the U.S. and around the globe travel to Becket, Massachusetts to take part in the 85th Anniversary Season.
An essential part of the Pillow’s mission and a beloved tradition, Inside/Out performances are free and open to the public. Audiences of all ages and walks of life travel from around the world and right down the road to meet new people and enjoy the art of dance as a community. Every year Inside/Out performances feature a variety of styles. Performances are family-friendly and are followed by a brief question and answer session with the audience.
