A struggle that is greatly influencing and impacting the people of this nation today: GREEN CARD – A New Musical is bringing a new and refreshing perspective of the trials and tribulations of immigration to its awaiting audiences. Han, a South Korean born failing artist living in Harlem is fighting for his chance at the American Dream; only he isn’t an American citizen. After meeting Mia, a spunky aspiring singer with her own skeletons to hide, they both come up with an ultimatum – the exchange of money for a fake marriage to help Han gain his citizenship. Along this crazy ride, Han and Mia are followed by Han’s South Korean girlfriend, Mia’s criminal ex-boyfriend, and the suspicious Immigration officer who refuses to leave them alone.
Returning to Off-Broadway is Comfort Women: A New Musical's star Garrett Taketa as Han. Alongside him as Mia, and making her Off-Broadway debut is Daniela Benítez, a soon-to-be graduate at AMDA (American Musical and Dramatic Academy); a newcomer who will take the theater district by storm. Playing Han's girlfriend, Kim, is the very talented Yonji Ham, who has already left her mark in South Korea with a spectacular performance as Scarlett O'hara in Gone With the Wind, and Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar at the Charlotte Theatre. Cranky Officer Augustus is being portrayed by Alex Notkin, who is no stranger to the stage and screen of Russia. Julia Lim is lending her presence to Green Card as Cathy. Julia Lim is an extremely well-known actress in South Korea on the silver screen and the first female anchor to visit and conduct a live televised show in North Korea.
Featuring: Garett T.K. Taketa, Daniela Benítez, Yonji Ham, Paul Marquez, Alex Notkin, Byron Clohessy, Julia Lim, Joomin Hwang, Aliza Sotsky, Futaba Shioda, James Edison Pierce, Oscar David Aguirre, Sam Franco, Myoungjin Choi, Stephanie Gomerez, Minsun Kim, Lina Lee, Liz Lindenmeier, Caleb Ricke, Genevieve Shi.
