A pianist and composer, Hyo Jee Kang, was born in Jeju Island, Korea. Her musical activity as a composer, performer and improviser has been featured throughout the world, Germany, Spain, Italy, Korea, Japan, USA, Israel, and so on.

Recently, she has been focusing on transformation between media and objects to create a new art form. She is working with media artists and live electronic performers presenting improvisation and recomposed composition beside her original. In 2017, Kang performed her re-composition work Ligeti- Hyo Jee, Kang Lux Aeterna. The work was performed in collaboration with fashion designer, singing performer, dancer, actor, and media artist, at the Korean traditional house ‘Dong Jae’ as well as the Seoul Innovation Park.

Kang currently resides in New York City where she is focusing on developing the theme of ‘transformation’, while serving as a faculty at Seoul National University. As a versatile artist, she actively pursues her musical endeavors as a performer, composer and pedagogue.
