Jasmine Choi, “the goddess of the flute” (Korea Times), returns to NYCP for her first concert as Artist-in-Residence. Five fresh works showcase inspiration from diverse sources in this season opener: two works by Grieg offer Baroque nostalgia and Norwegian sentiments, and selections by Bartok and de Sarasate feature Roma-inspired melodies. The world premiere of Clint Needham’s Pocket Concerto is the first of three new works commissioned in honor of Ms. Choi, one for each year of her residency.
