The cell theatre presents "OVERTURE"- a preview concert of performances to be developed into large-scale projects at the cell in 2013-14. Includes excerpts of "MURAKAMI MUSIC" and performances by chamber group "BLINK ENSEMBLE" of contemporary works written by WILLIAM SCHMIDT and CARSON COOMAN. Featuring pianist and artist-in-residence Eunbi Kim and special guest artists Laura Snell (actress), Nelly Rocha, (cello) and Christopher Scanlon (trumpet). Reception following. "MURAKAMI MUSIC" presents an interdisciplinary performance of live readings by actress Laura Snell with solo piano performances by pianist Eunbi Kim using musical references in Japanese writer Haruki Murakami's classic novel "Norwegian Wood." Specific readings explore themes of nostalgia and alienation.

BLINK ENSEMBLE- comprised of Nelly Rocha on cello, Christopher Scanlon on trumpet, and Eunbi Kim on piano- presents diverse new chamber works by American composers, movements from the spunky and vaudeville-sounding "Jazzberries" by WILLIAM SCHMIDT and the haunting and beautiful "Lyric Trio, for trumpet, cello, and piano" by CARSON COOMAN.

Eunbi will perform solo piano works by Debussy, a preview to a large-scale project slated for 2014 at the cell by founders and directors Nancy Manocherian and Kira Simring- a play on the life of French writer COLETTE which will include performances of solo piano works by French composers including Debussy, Faure, and Ravel.
