Rin Seo Orchestra (RSO) is a 17-piece contemporary big band founded by New York-based Korean composer Rin Seo. RSO plays new music composed by Seo influenced by diverse musical genres such as jazz, contemporary classical, music of Korea, world music, and others.
Seo’s music is experimental and aims to explore new sounds for big band. As a contemporary music composer, she pursues fresh sounds using novel methods. Since she has studied both classical music and jazz and has been exposed to a myriad of musical environment, her music combines eclectic musical idioms and blurs boundaries between genres with her own unique color.
At this upcoming concert, she will premier new works and an arrangement of the Korean traditional folk song that shares her personal reckoning with social justice.
