Ambient Church New York hosts a rare performance by Pan-Asian traveling family band TENGGER. Marqido, itta, and their 11-year-old son RAAI will serenade us with their soaring cosmic songs in a gothic cathedral in Chelsea, accompanied by architecturally mapped, equally cosmic projections.

TENGGER creates psychedelic, New Age music using harmonium, voice, toy instruments (played by itta), and analogue synths and drum machines (played by Marqido). Since 2012 the group has called themselves TENGGER—meaning unlimited expanse of sky in Mongolian—to mark the expansion of the family. Informed from their yearly family pilgrimages, TENGGER uses the focused intensity of devotional music to create a divine repetition that guides the sounds through real environments. Influenced from the teachings of Suzuki Shunryu, the minimalist mysticism of composer Terry Riley, and the rhythmic trance of Krautrock bands like Cluster, TENGGER’s widescreen sound offers a sonic portrait of a life spent in transit.
