The 2004 mystery thriller Spider Forest competed at the San Sebastian International Film Festival and was also presented at the Toronto International Film Festival. Television producer Gang Min wakes up from a coma to find himself a central suspect in a murder investigation. Desperate to clear his name, he must retrace his steps in the days before his injury.
Critics remarked on The Spider Forest's sophisticated editing and refusal to over-simplify. Rather than giving clear-cut answers to the mysteries surrounding Gang Min's life, director Il-gon Song questions whether truth can ever be made known through human memories.
