Three of Korea’s most vibrant young traditional musicians meet up with three of New York’s cutting edge jazz/new music musicians in a sonic adventure. Five Directions is an extraordinary collaboration led by Yoon Jeong Heo, the renowned Geomungo (Korean zither) player, and featuring a dynamic group of musicians playing composed and improvised music inspired by exuberant Korean folk and classical forms, jazz, and new music. The Tori Ensemble presents a special evening of work inspired by the five physical elements of metal, wood, fire, water, and earth.
Ticket prices for the December 4~6 performances are $16 for Asia Society members/students/seniors and $20 for nonmembers. A special discount will be offered for those who are on the Korean Cultural Service mailing list. The code for the Tori Ensemble program is: KComm65 and tickets are then discounted to $12.
