Winner of the 2009 Great Mountains Music Festival Competition, Daniel Cho started playing the violin at the age of six. As a soloist, he has performed with Sejong Soloists, Anyang Chamber Orchestra and Sungnam Youth Symphony. Since 2005, he has participated in the Great Mountains International Music Festival (Gangwon Province, Korea) where he appeared in the Rising Star Series and performed with the Gangwon Youth Philharmonic. As a chamber musician, he has performed with the Rose of Sharon Quartet and went on tour as a member of Sejong Chamber Players to the Dominican Republic, Colombia and Costa Rica. Daniel Cho currently attends The Juilliard School’s Pre-College Division as a scholarship student studying with Hyo Kang. He has given numerous chamber music performances around New York City and in Korea, including Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall (2008) as the result of winning the 10th New York Competition. He is scheduled to record Mendelssohn Concerto in D minor for Violin, Piano and String Orchestra later this year for Universal label. Daniel Cho performs on a J. B. Guadagnini, 1758, on generous loan from Higgin Kim, Chairman of Byucksan Engineering Co. Ltd. This concert marks Daniel’s New York recital debut; he is the youngest artist presented in the KMF New York Debut Recital Series over the last 25 years.

The program includes the works by A. Corelli, E. Grieg, F. Chopin and H. Wieniawski and more.

“Daniel Cho plays with a passion, intelligence and elegance far beyond his years. He brings excitement and beauty to the music he plays and mesmerizes the audience.”
