Hei-Kyung Hong performs in La Bohème at the Metropolitan Opera as Mimi, Puccini’s most engaging heroine. Dimitri Pittas sings as Rodolfo and Susanna Phillips is the flirtatious Musetta. Approximate running time 2 hrs. 55 min with two intermissions.
Hong became the first Korean to win the Metropolitan Opera Competition in 1982. She then made her debut at the theater in 1984, playing Servilia in Mozart's La Clemenza di Tito. Hong starred in La Traviata production in 2007 with tenor Woo-Kyung Kim. The two became the first Koreans to play the leading roles in the same production at a Metropolitan opera.
