As the world prepares for the third dictator to take power over North Korea since the Korean War, Yoo & Dancers will use dance to show how the North Korean quality of life diminishes as dictatorial control grows. “160 Miles” demonstrates how a single individual, ruling through fear and trepidation, severely affects the lives of millions. On the border between North and South Korea, we see 160 miles representing the past.
International choreographer Hee Ra Yoo trained and performed with Kirov Ballet, Korean National Ballet, California Ballet, and Canberra Dance Theatre. She received her Master of Fine Art degree from New York University Tisch School. Yoo & Dancers has performed at Dance Theater Workshop, DUMBO Dance Festival, Cool NY Festival, American Dance Guild Festival, Contemporary Dance Festival at Alvin Ailey Theater and more. Ms. Yoo teaches dance at DNA and at the Joffrey Ballet School in Manhattan.
