Virtuous pianist, Hai-Kyung Suh, will be performing a recital on March 24, 2012 at 8:00 pm at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall.
If there is one word trailing pianist Hai-Kyung Suh, it would be "passion". In 1988, as a Steinway artist, she was one of twenty world renowned pianists to perform at a Carnegie Hall gala concert celebrating the 100th anniversary of Steinway Piano. On stage, her bold and confident gaze displays the potential and promise of Korean pianist to the world.
This performance is not only to commemorate Ms. Suh to be the first woman in the world to record the complete piano concerto of Rachmaninoff (2010) and Tchaikovsky (2011), but her personal battle with breast cancer and her recovery and restoration to her health, and she will be donating the full profit to provide clinical examination and treatment for low-income breast cancer patients through Suh, Hai-Kyung Foundation (non-profit organization), which she established to support cancer patients, disadvantaged youths and children from low-income families, the foundation which frequently partners with research medical facilities, hospitals, and other organizations to benefit breast cancer treatment program. Ms. Suh is active as an awareness ambassador for Pink Ribbon (Amore Pacific's Korea Breast Cancer Foundation) and other charity organizations.
Ms. Hai-Kyung Suh will be performing various compositions from her repertoire by Beethoven, Shubert, Verdi, Tchaikovsky, Rachmoninoff, Brahms, and more. The highlight of her recital will be the premier of the four songs of R. Franz by composer, Lawell Liebemann, an original composition written especially for her. She will fulfill the place with hope, love, and awareness.
