LaGuardia Performing Arts Center and Exploring the Metropolis join forces to present “Scattered Wind” and “Sanjo No. 1” by Korean-American composer Paul Yeon Lee (http://www.paulyeonlee.com). Lee, former Composer-in-Residence at Flushing Town Hall, has received numerous honors and awards including Charles Ives Scholarship and Walter Hinrichsen Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, Con Edison Composers Award, Symphony in C Young Composers’ Competition, commission from the world renowned Gramophone Award recipient pianist Pascal Rogé, commission from the American Composers Orchestra, SONiC FESTiVAL, MacDowell Colony, American Composers Alliance’s Festival of American Music, and Korean Cultural Service NY fund. Recently, Lee has been chosen as one of the “25 Contemporary Composers Helping to Push String Music to New Heights” by prestigious international STRINGS magazine on the 25th-anniversary March 2012 issue (Lee’s interview is on page 4).
