The Wind from Asia Concert 2 will help the larger Asian American community understand and appreciate traditional Korean music as well as Indian and Japanese traditional forms. Using traditional instruments, such as the janggu (hour glass shaped Korean drum), bansuri (Indian flute), and koto (Japanese zither), this performance will bring out the authentic musical forms of these countries. The participating musicians are all masters of their respective folk arts in New York City, including Vong Pak on the janggu , Masayo Ishigure on the koto , and Steve Gorn on the bansuri. These musicians are all professionally trained and experienced musicians in both traditional and contemporary music fields, and have a proven track record in their respective fields.
