Dulsori at the Lincoln Center Out of Doors
“[globalFEST’s] biggest eureka moment came by the courtesy of the Korean ensemble Dulsori, which was making its stateside bow. From an opening number that found its members playing all surfaces of three wildly oversized bass drums that dwarfed them, the septet veered between keening traditional folk and neo-psychedelic, harp-based jams. Theirs was a revelatory performance, proof that it’s still possible to find something new under the sun” –Variety, January 2008
Dulsori, the exuberant Korean percussion group that pounds out primitive rhythms with modern sparkle, draws inspiration from traditional Korean percussion days. In the ancient time, during festivities farmers would drum to both imitate and praise the nature – Taoism being expressed through drumming. These energetic and passionate drummers, dancers, and singers promise to bring you an evening where you will experience the true fever of the ancient festival in a contemporary venue.
This concert is double-billed and Cyro Baptista & Beat the Donkey will be featured as well.
