6th Annual Solo Nova Arts Festival: Face
Written and Performed by Haerry Kim, Face is a lyrical rendition of a girl’s story who survived two wars. Her story moves through vivid images, extreme brutality, and daring questions about violence and history. Based on the book of testimonies of Comfort Women, who are survivors of sexual slavery by the Japanese army during World War II, this work is a theatrical experiment to give voice to the suppressed history.
Kim’s recent acting credit includes American and European tour of “Songs of Dragons Flying to Heaven” by Young Jean Lee, Alma in “Summer and Smoke” at the Seoul Arts Center (S Korean national theater), and W32 (film). She translated Kristin Linklater’s book Freeing the Natural Voice into Korean. She holds MFA in Acting from Columbia University. She taught at Hanyang University, Kookmin University, Kyunghee University(S Korea), PACE University, and teaches at NYU Tisch CAP21.
